Reports (Summary of activities)

2022

In the first stage of the project, conducted from May to December 2022, the main activities for collecting primary data were carried out. In the early phase of the project, logistics acquisition procedures and obtaining the necessary research authorizations were initiated. Following field trips, aerial photographs of the sites were taken, and digital models of the terrain were created for each site. Geophysical measurements were postponed to the first part of 2023 to take advantage of suitable terrain for this activity.

Simultaneously, in this initial stage, archaeozoological and archaeobotanical samples from the sites at Timișoara-Freidorf and Topolovățu Mare were selected and submitted for analysis. The most relevant samples for radiocarbon dating in the second stage were also chosen. As part of the primary material processing activity, the discovered objects up to this point in the sites were drawn to be included in the publication of the results.

The dissemination of the results of the activities carried out so far was accomplished through oral presentations at international conferences and by submitting a study for publication in a journal indexed in international databases. Additionally, a study describing the methodology of non-invasive measurements conducted in the research of the Timișoara-Freidorf site has been partially developed and will be finalized and submitted for publication in the second stage of the project.

Regarding the dissemination to the general public, the focus has been on creating 3D models of the discovered artifacts in the analyzed project sites. These models will be part of a virtual exhibition and can already be partially accessed on the project's website.
